71: Into The Fire Plot
Jang- beom is a volunteer militia soldier in a battle around Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province during the Korean War. The city was overrun by the North Korean People’s Army, few soldiers were left and Lieutenant Kim Jun-Seop attempted to escape.
The situation is getting harder among the South Korean soldiers. Capt. Kang made a quick solution before leaving Pohang. He assigned Jang- beom to be the leader of the 68 newly recruited students who volunteered to fight against the North Korean People Army. Jang- beom is hesitant to accept the task due to his limitation of being not a good leader. But nevertheless, he became the leader of the 68 newbies and an additional 3 seniors that had already experienced in the battle (including Jang- beom).
The 71 students trained themselves how to handle a gun and how to fire rifles. Without proper education or training as a soldier, the 71 students become vulnerable in fighting against the elite forces from the enemy. As a result, they were easily wiped out by the hands of Korean fighters before the rescue came. The only thing that holds them to fight is because they have to protect their land and because they were soldiers.
