Little Forest Plot
Returning to her childhood home in the countryside, Song Hye-won takes a break for a moment to think about what she’s going to do next after being down and depressed. She hid from her two best friends as she arrived home. She knew what would be their reaction knowing she failed to pass the teacher,s board exam, but the village was too small for her to hide, Jae-ha and Eun-sook somehow knew her presence.
Returning to her home, Hye-won keeps thinking of her mother, though she felt confused and looking for an answer as to why her mom abandoned her. If only she read all the letters that her mom sent to her, she would understand her mother,s feelings at the very beginning. Her mother isn’t there – but her mother’s “Little Forest”, the many ways in which a single mother successfully made a home for her much loved child, unfurl with a long succession of lovingly sketched details involving mostly food preparation.
Returning back home is what Hye-won gives importance now, as she looks upon her two best friends’ status in life and hers, she completely understands what her mom is trying to say…to build a little forest that no one dictates, a simple dream that will make you happy.
