Tropical Depression Edouard brings heavy rain and flash-flood threat to southeast Texas

National Hurricane Center Tropical Depression Edouard Advisory Number 8 (4:00 a.m. CDT Sept. 2, 2026) located the center near 30.8°N, 95.0°W — about 70 miles northwest of Beaumont and about 30 miles south-southwest of Lufkin, Texas — with maximum sustained winds near 35 mph.
NHC stated gusty winds and heavy rainfall continued to spread across southeast Texas, with Flood Watches remaining from the Upper Texas Coast into portions of eastern Texas. The advisory said total rainfall along Edouard’s path was expected to produce flash flooding, especially in low-lying and urban areas, with significant flash flooding possible and river flooding also possible.
